Hello from Wisconsin, sweet friends!  Did you happen to see the amazing giveaway yesterday???
I”ll wait while you go enter if you haven’t yet.

Back? okay.

After 2 days in the car, driving straight into snowpocolypse Draco, and allowing my toddler to way too many iPad minutes: we finally made it to Wisconsin!  You might be wondering why-on-earth we decided to drive instead of fly.  And well? $2000 is why.  Yup.  Flights were 1k a piece this year.  I honestly thought I’d somehow selected first class, but alas.

One thousand dollars.

To fly to Wisconsin.
Not Figi.  Not Norway.  Not even San Diego.

So we decided to drive.

At first this decision made me smile: it had been too long since we’d embarked on a good road trip.  But as the day got closer, and our busyness got busier.  I was exhausted and the thought of driving made me want to just crawl into bed and pull the covers over my face.

But then I would remember that we were taking 2 days to drive to Wisconsin—and when I thought about the family we were stopping to see?

I couldn’t wait to get on the road.

So after Andy pulled an all-nighter to finish some work, and I was up until 2am: we packed the car and hit the road.

6 hours later, we were at the home of some old friends.

Now, you might ask if we all grew up together, attended the same high school—at least college, right?

Nope.  In fact, our husbands had never even met.

But you know when there are just those people?
Those people, those friends.

You pick up where you left off—even though the whole, “when we left off” doesn’t even exist.  When you have to remind yourself that you haven’t known them for years, because, well, that.

You just feel like you have.

So while the kids played, we chatted.  We packed bags.  We drank coffee.

We even went on a double date.

Friendships like these make me thankful for Al Gore and his invention of the internet.
I kid.  I kid.

But really.  Today? I am thankful for old friends.
and family who is worth driving into storm Draco to see.

Yes, thank God for internet! Shame about airfare prices, though. I’d have chosen to drive it, too!

It’s amazing some of the people you “meet” on the internet and the life long friendships that form!
