“I can’t imagine a day without art.”
I remember speaking those words to my mom as we figured out my schedule during my freshman year of high school.
7 classes. 1 mandatory study hall. No art class.
In the long run, I ended up getting special permission to fill up my 8 periods with 8 classes — study hall would be when I got home. I’m so thankful I realized I needed that outlet and space in my day.
Still to this day, my mom’s advice to me when I’m feeling down and discouraged (moving to a new city as a family with young kids can bring about a lot of those days) is to lose myself in a project. She knows me pretty well.
I started this blog in 2009 as an outlet during my job traveling in the healthcare software world. I loved my job. I loved the analytical thinking and processing. I loved teaching and training and troubleshooting.
I was missing my art.
This space has ebbed and flowed. It changed as life has changed. In 2016, you’ll see more art. More quilts. More patterns and designs. You’ll see less fashion, less kids, less me. I want to empower people to create, to make, and to lose themselves in the process.
I hope you find yourself inspired here. I hope you look for beauty in everything and everyone around you. I hope we can all do our part to bring more beauty to the places and spaces we enter.
Thanks for stopping by and being here.
