I love maxi dresses.  I love the way that they’re as comfortable as sweatpants, but cute and feminine as well.  In the summertime, they are essential–I’m not a huge shorts-wearing-fan, but wearing jeans or long pants in 90º weather just isn’t an option!  Maxi dresses are my best friend in the heat.

I got this dress from Kiki LaRue a few weeks back {similar} and immediately realized that I associate maxi dresses with the summer: I tend to ignore them when the temperature starts dropping.

Perhaps it’s my inner flower child that loves wearing flip flops with them or something?

So back to this dress.  I decided I needed to figure out a way to style it as we entered fall.  I’m excited to layer and transition it again as we head into winter!

I combined my favorite necklace {hurry! They are on clearance!}, some , {similar} and my   I also layered a slip underneath — both for warmth and the sheerness of the skirt.

There are a few things that I just love about this dress.  Not only is it super comfortable, but it would be the cutest maternity dress as well!  {no, I’m not pregnant.}  I let my friend Ashley, who is pregnant and super cute, borrow this dress for a party last weekend.  It looked a million times better on her, I think!  This is definitely a dress that transitions not only through the seasons well, but also through seasons of life.  See what I did there?

Kiki La Rue often sells out quickly due to the high demand, so sadly this dress isn’t available anymore.  But I have a few new favorites!!  So many of these dresses are amazing — a few will be ending up in my cart for sure.  I adore this tunic.  And this sweater is like a blanket disguised as a sweater — WIN.

And because I love this boutique so much, y’all can go shopping with a coupon code just for you all! Use COCONUT10 for 10% off your order!  Her prices are amazing — and 10% off makes them that much better.
