Friends, I’d like to introduce you to David Kind.
One of my most favorite things about this wonderful world wide web is that it brings talent right to your doorstep — via your computer screen! You all know I’m a huge fan of StitchFix, and one of the reasons I’m so smitten is that I get to let the expert be the expert.
I’m not a stylist. And I’m definitely not an Optical Stylist. Definitely not.
That simple reason is why I’m incredibly picky when it comes to things like finding a hair stylist or designer or anything — I don’t want to be the expert, because I’m just not.
Enter, David Kind.
David Kind has taken the joy of finding an amazing pair of glasses, the luxury of an exquisite optical stylist, cutting edge technology and design and created an experience that starts at your computer screen and ends with the perfect pair. {or two}
After signing up, you will be styled and sent 6 frames to try on at home. Before I go on, can we just take a moment to ooooh and ahhhh over the box?
After finally moving past the gorgeousness of the box my frames were packaged in, I opened it up to check them out! Y’all. I’m forever leaving the job of narrowing my specs to the expert. I’d love to hear what you think! Which one do you think I should buy?
Each pair of frames comes with a small card for notes. How’s the fit? the color? the shape? Maybe you want to make a note that you really love this pair, but you’re just not ready to purchase it just yet — all of your notes help your stylist improve on your next box of frames.
Here are all six of mine again — you can see that some are subtle color changes and some of the frame shapes are completely different — I had so much fun trying them all on. My favorite in the box ended up being my least favorite on. I love that how that always seems to be the case when a professional stylist is involved — sometimes it’s good to leave things up to the experts!
What do you think? If you are a design lover like me, be sure to check out their site — it is exquisite.
and psst! As someone who is terrible at making gift lists for myself, a David Kind box would be the perfect thing to ask for this Christmas!
Okay! So let me know — which would you pick?
xo.
Last night I photographed my first birth! It was incredible, beautiful …and it’s 4:40am as I edit and finish this post. ack. If you were expecting something from me today, it might need to wait until tomorrow. I am typing and dreaming of crawling into my comfy bed, but Y’ALL. A sweet little baby was born early this morning, and I cannot wait to share the photos I was able to capture — after I’ve caught up on sleep. :)
But before I sleep, don’t go anywhere! Y’all? Can you be extra fabulous and amazing for me today? My dear friend, Rachel — the incredible photographer who shot today’s photos and so many of the photos you see here — has an opportunity to have her photo on the cover of a magazine. The vote is down to the final three, and I would love nothing more than to see you all pop over quickly to like her photo, and maybe leave a comment as well! xoxo
Can’t wait to hear about your birth photography experience!
That packaging is gorgeous! I love companies that put thought into the full experience. I think you look good in all the lenses, but I vote #5.
(Speaking of voting, I voted for Rachel yesterday :) )
Ah! It was amazing! I just hope some of the photos turned out :/ ack!!! so nervous.
You are the BEST.
I like a few of them, but I think my favorites are number 5! I’m a huge stitch fix fan as well – all of these little companies that send things to your house are just too easy!
I KNOW!! Add amazon prime to the list …and i never need to leave my house!!
I love #6!
and you are BEAUTIFUL in these pics! I love when you smile for real!
:) you are the best. 6 is really growing on me now…I love that they aren’t SUPER dark!
I like 1, 3, and 5. Also, photographing a birth? That is seriously so awesome! That is why I want to be an OB…getting to deliver miracles everyday.
YES!! You should!! And i will live vicariously through you!! i texted my parents in the middle of the night to tell them that i’d made a mistake by not going to med school!!
Oh my gosh, no! Don’t say you made a mistake! You’re an awesome mom to Harlow…and lets be honest, if you were a Dr, you wouldn’t be able to spend as much time at home with her. I’ve got lots of schooling ahead! Ah!
#5…. you are so beautiful (am I really your Mama?… what a privilege)
:) you’re going to make me cry! Not as beautiful as you, mommy. :) I mean that
I love number 6!
:) :) i love how unique the color is on these frames!
I think #3 looks best on you
I really love that pair too! If you look closely, you can see that the front of the frame is a darker brown…but the back is a tiger eye look, they are stunning!
I like number 5 the best. I used to work in an optometrist office. Generally, for someone with fair skin and light hair, you want to avoid a black pair. As someone who fits that description, I’d get so mad at our optician because anytime I put on a black pair he’d make me put them away. Tortoise or grey options tend to be better, or brown. Option 5 is great because it’s still dark (which I’m guessing you’ll like most since I’m similar) BUT option 6 is also great for your skin.
And that’s my FAKE expert opinion.
Pick whatever make you feel best. Make sure it fits the bridge of your nose and sits straight.
Oh! And try them on in multiple places. I often encouraged customers to bring a mirror outside to try them on, and to try them on in different lighting around our shop. Try them on with your favourite outfits, with your hair up and down.
I love you :) 4 and 6 I was immediately drawn to — well, 2 too, because they are such a lighter frame! The middle top pair is a sage-green color, and it’s really gorgeous! I thought I looked too washed out in the clear frame..but that is getting a LOT of votes on my facebook post!!!
What do you think about frame 3? they are a brown front with kind of a marbled/tiger eye look in the back — I love the uniqueness about them! I agree about black tho…I bought a pair of black and find that i RARELY wear them because i feel like all people see when i wear them is GLASSESSSSSS. :)
I LOVE your advice about trying them on throughout the day/different lighting, etc — that’s huge!
xoxo!
I like 3! It’s pretty. You look good in anything though – it’s a gift you possess!!
I have a big huge pair that are blue, and I wear them (I’m wearing them now) but man – I feel like an uber hipster in them. I never quite know how I feel about them.
love ya much.
Number 5
:) 5 is getting a lot of votes!!
Number 5 hands down, definitely, without a doubt! My qualifications? My hubs wears glasses and I do this ALL. THE. TIME. ;)
I think those are good qualifications!!!
I like the darker colors on you best, but that could be your black shirt speaking. Try them on with different color shirts as well!
SUCH good advice!! I also need to pull my hair up and see if that changes anything!
I used to work at a high end glasses shop. Great choices! Can’t go wrong with any in my opinion except #4 washes you out. Otherwise my favorite is number 5. Hope this helps!!
that was my first thought when I put on four as well!! My stylist recommended trying them with a bold red lip and my hair pulled up — as sort of a chic but subtle look!! And I think that might be something I really like!
…yes, I did just come back to see how #5 was faring.
::does a little cheer for 5::
BAHAHAHAHA! I freaking adore you!!! I was JUST replying that 5 is really winning!! and i’m kind of surprised!! I thought people would say that it is too dark and bold!!
I LOVE #5, but I really really like #1 too :) 5 is my vote! All of those look really cute on you though! My least fav is #4…they seem to wash you out a little. You can’t go wrong with whatever you pick though!
