I admit to staring at these announcements for an obscene amount of time when they arrived.  Pathetically obscene.  There is just something about beautifully designed cards and announcements that make me giddy.  And nope, I can’t take any credit.  What began as two gorgeous photos from Rachel ended in a beautifully designed birth announcement design available at .

works with designers to create a vast collection of designs for all occasions – announcements, invitations, holidays – and an assortment of styles.  I love the way that they describe the community:

Minted’s community of independent artists and designers are located in 48 states and 43 countries. They are illustrators and textile designers, painters and packaging designers, marketers and stay-at-home moms. Some have design degrees, and others are participating in Minted competitions to learn design for the first time. They share a deep love for creative expression, personal development, risk-taking, and most importantly, paying it forward by helping each other.

uses crowdsourcing to fill their virtual shelves: designs are submitted, voted upon, and released for sale giving the artist a commission on every sale.

As an artist, I adore companies who value the creativity of individuals!  And provides a platform for so many artists to do what they love — design! create! — without having to worry about the printing and details.

And since I mentioned details…. let’s talk about the details!  Simply put?  No detail is missed.  You can even have a little fun with the return address wrap-around stickers like we did. :)

High quality paper to beautiful metallic foils to an easy customization process to free address printing on every card.  Yup!  You read that correctly.  Upload an excel document with names and addresses and they will be printed on each envelope.

We’ve used now for Christmas cards and birth announcements, and I thought I would share some of my favorite tips and suggestions with you all.

1| Set a timer. ;) You might find yourself spending hours customizing cards and scrolling through designs.  I’m partially kidding, but their interface is so easy to use, it’s a bit addicting!

2| Use the free proof to your advantage!  Perhaps you moved some text and aren’t happy with how it’s looking.  With each purchase comes an individual looking over your selections and design.  You have the opportunity to leave a note about specific areas of concern as well — use this service!  It’s free, so take advantage!

3| Try out a bunch of designs and images!  Select a few images you’re considering, and then have fun testing them in various designs.  This birth announcement for Jones wasn’t our first pick originally, but as soon as we began adding photos to the designs, this one was a sure winner!

Just have fun!  Minted’s customer service is out of this world, and they are great about answering any questions you may have as well!

The holidays are right around the corner!
